Values & Commitments

(Re)Connection:
Inviting nature into healing work and encouraging (re)connection with the natural world is important to my practice as is listening to the physical, bodily knowledge known as the felt sense or somatic experience. Disconnection from our bodies, from our selves, from others, and from the earth is at the heart of the matter that is healing.

Growth & (Un)Learning:
I believe that we are all capable of learning & growth both through and on the other side of our struggles. And that sometimes we need to do some unlearning to find our way back to the truth of our selves.

Respecting the many spectrums of identity and difference, I encounter each person as beautifully unique and recognize that, as a species and across species, our diversity and differences contribute to our collective strength & resilience and to a healthy ecosystem.

Humility:
In this work, I embrace humility and acknowledge that there is much I have yet to learn. I also understand that if any one of us is oppressed, none of us are truly free.

Collaboration:
Working together, we choose the direction therapy needs to take alongside the interventions and strategies that best fit for you. Because the true expert of your life is none but your self.

Wholistic Understanding:
Holding space for the many layers of influence (familial, political, cultural, etc.) and the many aspects of lived experience (psychological, social/relational, somatic, environmental, etc.) we piece together and build an under-standing that we can grow from and move with.

Presence:
Every time I show up for you as your therapist I am present with you and focused on you. I do not use other technology or tools that distract and I do my best to cede the space. Therapy is your space.

Experience & Education

Experience:
I have experience supporting people across the gender spectrum from diverse backgrounds through some of the most challenging times in their lives; through past traumas that continue to affect their present day lives, to present day and everyday life struggles -witnessing and fostering growth and healing both through and on the other side of these difficult times.

My educational background in Women & Gender Studies, as well as many years spent employed by and volunteering for community and not for profit organizations, has formed my foundation as a therapist. Some of the organizations I have been involved with are: The Ecology Action Centre, Adsum for Women & Children, Lailo Farm Sanctuary, North Mountain Animal Sanctuary, Out of the Cold, Anchor Archive, Inkstorm, Radstorm, Food Not Bombs, Elderdog, Metro SPCA, Sadlier House Alternative Library.

Education and experience remain at centre for me as a therapist. Ongoing growth as a practitioner in this field is a priority. I continue to learn and grow alongside my clients, through volunteer work in my community as well as through education, self-study and training.
