Environmental & Ethical Commitments
As a therapist and as an individual, I consider myself an ally in many struggles for a more just world for humans, animals & nature.
As a therapist working on turtle island and walking an ecotherapy path,
I do my best to both recognize and acknowledge my privilege as a white settler
here in Mi’kma’ki. Endeavouring to question this privilege as well as to use it
wisely. I hold a deep respect for the peoples, animal beings, cultures,
knowledge & wisdom connected to this land.
As a practitioner I continue to seek support with this work
through training, research, supervision and consultation. I continue to learn
and grow in this role alongside my clients.
As a business, Interflections Counselling Therapy also strives to operate both ethically and as an ally. Below you will find some choices I make on the day to day to align my business with my ethos:
Intentionally Sourcing Materials and Products:
- 100% recycled paper for copies and prints
- 100% recycled cotton t-shirt material - tree free- for business cards
- Pens made from recycled plastics sourced from used electronics
- Used not new office supplies and furnishings whenever possible
- Hand Made Journals purchased direct from small businesses in Canada
- Supporting small & local, ethical & sustainable business and artisans whenever possible
Intentionally Giving Back:
- Utilizing advertising dollars for campaigns to reach out, offer support, and foster connection - Interflections' 2021 Post Card Campaign: Reach, Reflect & Reconnect, 2022 Post Card Campaign: Find Your Ground and currently being distributed 2023 Post Card Campaign: Sanctuary
- Supporting social justice, animal rights and environmental rights through everyday action and donations to causes, campaigns and community organizations
The Business Side of Practice:
- This website is hosted by Ethical Host a green web hosting option in Toronto, Canada: Ethical Host donates 10% of their pre-tax profits to social and environmental organizations and are powered by 100% renewable energy and carbon offsets
- All Interflections Banking is done through the local Credit Union
